Author Guidelines

Editorial SADAF requests that manuscripts be submitted according to the guidelines detailed below. In general, the publisher follows the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition.

 

1. Typography and General Format

  • Standard fonts are accepted, such as Arial, Times New Roman, or equivalents.

  • Font size may be 11 or 12 points.

  • Line spacing may be 1, 1.15, or 1.5, according to the author's preference.

  • It is essential that criteria remain uniform throughout the entire manuscript.

  • Titles, subtitles, and section levels must maintain a consistent style throughout the document.

 

2. Footnotes

  • Notes must be included at the bottom of the page, not at the end of the document.

  • They shall be numbered consecutively throughout the text.

  • They should be used only for necessary clarifications, avoiding overloading the text with excessive content.

 

3. In-text Citations

The publisher adopts the APA citation system, 7th edition. References within the text must follow the format:

  • Surname (year):

    Ex.: Dennett (1995) argues that…

  • (Surname, year, page) when it is appropriate to specify the location:

    Ex.: (Quine, 1960, p. 28).

 

4. Bibliography

At the end of the manuscript (or, in the case of collections, at the end of each chapter), a complete list of the works cited in the text must be included under the heading "Bibliography."

  • The list must be organized alphabetically by the author's surname.

  • Book and journal titles should be in italics.

  • DOIs or URLs must be included where applicable.

  • The general format must conform to APA standards.

  • Book example:

    Carnap, R. (1928). Der logische Aufbau der Welt. Springer. https://doi.org/xxxxx

  • Journal article example:

    Lewis, D. (1971). Counterparts of persons and their bodies. Journal of Philosophy, 68(7), 187–221. https://doi.org/xxxxx

In case of any doubt, the following guide may be consulted.

5. Additional Recommendations

  • Ensure that all references cited in the text appear in the Bibliography and vice versa.

  • Verify consistency in the use of quotation marks, italics, hyphens, and capitalization.

  • Writing and style editing are the responsibility of the authors and must be completed before submitting the manuscript.

  • Remove any hyperlinks that have been automatically generated in the body of the text or in the references through the use of software such as Zotero, especially those that link to the software’s own webpages. (Hyperlinks directing to relevant webpages may be retained in the references when a URL is being cited.)

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

1. Originality

The proposal has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by any other publisher (or an explanation is provided in "Comments for the publisher").

 

2. Relevance

As a result of having explored our catalog, it is confirmed that the proposal is relevant and fits our editorial line, namely, academic books on analytic philosophy in a broad sense.

 

3. Evaluation and conformity

You have consented that, should the proposal be considered relevant, we will request additional information. In particular, if the proposal is finally accepted by the editorial team, we will ask you to send the complete version of the manuscript, adapted to our author guidelines, for external evaluation. In the case of collections, the initial evaluation of the quality of the texts will be the responsibility of the team in charge of the collection.

 

4. Limits of the editorial responsibilities

You have understood that Editorial SADAF does not perform writing or style correction tasks; therefore, this aspect is the responsibility of the authors and must be completed before the submission of the manuscript.

 

5. Submission of a sample

You have prepared and attached a document containing the following elements

  • Author or editor data (full name, institutional affiliation, email address)
  • Provisional title of the book
  • Language of the work
  • Suggested collection within Editorial SADAF
  • Abstract (up to 200 words)
  • Tentative table of contents
  • A sample chapter (for Originals, Translations, or Texts, the one that best reflects the value of the work; for Collections or Reports, the Introduction)
